This 1/96 scale replica of the Nautilus, is the most accurate representation ever offered by the Disney Company. Model builders William Babington and Rich Allsmiller, who both have a strong affection for the subject matter, constructed the model with painstaking attention to detail. Allsmiller, an expert on 20,000 Leagues and the Nautilus, and who shared a close friendship with its original designer Harper Goff, authenticated the model to be as correct as possible.
From the waterline and down it is based on the 11' shooting model and from the waterline and up it is patterned after the "full scale" deck set. The detail and finish are absolutely amazing!!!
This model comes as shown and is in excellent condition. The model also features interior lighting! The battery compartment holds two AAA batteries and when the rescue boat at the aft of the body is moved it switches the lights on, giving the interior a wonderful blue and amber colored glow. The brass plaque on the base still has the protective plastic in place.
This is the rarest, not to mention the most accurate Disney Nautilus ever produced and it is exceptionally rare, being only one of 1,000 ever made. When these were released into a limited number of Disney Stores in 2004 it sold out entirely in just a matter of hours and was never, ever re-released. If you are a Disney collector or an enthusiast for the masterpiece that is Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, then this is the exact item you have been waiting for. This is a serious item for the serious collector.
